About
our company
I’m an equine behaviour clinician, and I cover South and Mid Wales and South West England, as well as working internationally via video conferencing.
I’ve been obsessed with horses my whole life and grew up in France, so my childhood was spent playing horseball!
I moved back to the UK and graduated in 2001 with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in Psychology, and my dissertation was on equine behaviour and learning. In 2005, I did a Master’s degree in Animal Behaviour, conducting research on feral equine behaviour and completing my dissertation with the clinical behaviour team at Bristol Vet School. Throughout my studies, I continued working with horses, rehabilitating ex-racehorses, working at a professional show-jumping yard and a professional dressage yard and volunteering as research assistant on a research project at a stud farm looking at the effect of nutrition on the behaviour of foals.
After completing my MSc, I ran a degree programme in Applied Animal Behaviour (this degree met the knowledge requirements for students to register as Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourists and focused on companion animal behaviour, including horses). I also taught equine behaviour and welfare on the Equine Science degree. I supervised all the behaviour dissertations on the Equine Science degree and was involved in research on equine behaviour, learning and training, including a comparison of traditional methods and Monty Roberts’ ‘join-up’, and cognitive differences in horses showing stereotypical behaviour.
Whilst lecturing, I set up a referral practice so that students could also get practical experience of behaviour cases towards their certification.
I’ve been consulting ever since so I have over 18 years of experience. I deliver guest lectures for colleges, CPD for rescues and vet practices, and I’ve done webinars for the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors and the Fellowship of Animal Behaviour Clinicians. I specialise in psychological trauma and only use evidence-based, ethical training methods.
For more information on my methods or to discuss a potential case, I’d love to hear from you so you’re very welcome to give me a call!
